Les Planes is located 3km from the small village of Soufrrignac, with its farm museum, organic gardens and water mill.

We are situated right on the edge of the Perigord / Limousin natural park between Angouleme and Nontron on the Charente /Dordogne border – making it a perfect base for exploring both departments.

Golf (4 courses within an hour) tennis, riding, fishing, leisure lakes, go-karting, canoeing, walking and mountain bike trails are all available locally, and you will find many superb restaurants.

  • The lively market towns of Montbron, Nontron, Piegut, Marthon, and La Rochefoucauld (with its stunning chateau) offer restaurants, shops, brocantes and festivals and range from a 10 to 25 minute car ride.
  • There are chateaux, vineyards, working mills, leisure lakes, prehistoric caves and ancient churches to discover.
  • We are 30 minutes from Angouleme, an historic walled city rich in cartoon history. Host to many festivals – including the vintage car rally in September, Ludoland and Gourmet Food and Wine in November and the International Comic Strip in January.
  • The beautiful towns of Perigueux, Brantome and Aubeterre are within an hours drive, and Cognac with its world famous distilleries is within easy reach.
  • Royan with its blue flag beaches, seafood restaurants and the European Zoo of the Year La Palmyre Zoo is approximately an hour and a half away.
  • Bordeaux – the south west’s second largest city with superb architecture, parks, shopping and nightlife. The centre of a world renowned wine growing area – visit Medoc or St Emilion for tastings.
